COACHING FOR PARENTS OF ADHD CHILDREN

"There is no such thing as a bad child, only a child who feels bad."

Parenting a child with ADHD is far from easy: In addition to the regular challenges of parenting, a non-ADHD parent has to deal with a foreign yet overwhelming challenge. Parents must learn how to help their children manage their ADHD, while at the same time maintaining a balanced family life (especially if there are non-ADHD siblings), and helping their children learn to thrive despite the challenges.

Compounding the difficulties is the fact that often, while trying to help their children, "non-ADHD" parents realize that they themselves suffer from ADHD.

Key to managing ADHD, is approaching conflict with an understanding that the child lacks the necessary skills to behave as expected: Research shows that many children have the intelligence and motivation to succeed, but lack or lag behind in the crucial “executive skills” required for organization, staying focused, and controlling impulses and emotions.

In our coaching sessions, we'll shift the focus from your child's "choice" of bad behavior towards how to make your child feel good, gain confidence, and learn the skills necessary to succeed.

You'll gain confidence in yourself and your parenting skills, and learn how to teach your child to streamline his or her day and develop the habits that will make success possible.
